Impact journalism, or solutions-oriented journalism, is defined by the Solutions Journalism Network as « rigorous and compelling reporting on responses to social problems. »

It’s important not to confuse Impact Journalism with “Social Journalism”, a media model which has recently evolved. Social Journalism is based on a collaborative contribution approach, with platforms such as Medium encouraging contributors and readers to publish opinion-based content.

Impact Journalism is itself capable of defining a better vision of the world as well as highlighting a solution which helps move towards it. 

By featuring solutions that tackle key global issues, Impact Journalism Day Universities has a double impact; firstly in raising awareness, secondly in sparking action.
